In 1984, Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman released a black-and-white comic book called 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.' It tells the story of four turtles which are exposed to radioactive goo and grow to near-human size. Under the tutelage of Splinter--a rat who has suffered similar side effects--the turtles would soon go on to become the stars of additional comic books, television cartoons, and a highly successful movie franchise. They've also been the inspiration for countless action figures and accessories. Now, after 20 years of popularity, a whole new generation of admirers has just begun to discover Michaelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello. |
